Music, Drama & Art

Music, Drama and Art are essential elements of the curriculum for all pupils at Brackenfield. Each department is well resourced and occupies its own area within the school. The three departments frequently work closely together on productions of outstanding quality.

Music

In addition to time-tabled music, children may study most instruments, and there are many opportunities to perform in our orchestra, junior or senior choirs, recorder or percussion ensembles, flute choir or swing band. Both formal and informal concerts are arranged throughout the year and children also perform in daily assemblies.

These activities help to give children the confidence they require to perform in public, which will be an invaluable asset during their school and working life.

Drama

Children enjoy considerable success in regular LAMDA examinations, and also perform at the well-known Harrogate Music Festival.

Art

Art

Art at Brackenfield has always had a special place. Much of the colour around the corridors and classrooms is the result of the children’s enthusiasm and hard work in the workshop room. Walls throughout the school are graced with excellent examples of children’s work.
