Our emphasis in the Pre-Prep Department is to develop skills, knowledge and understanding in the foundation subjects of Mathematics and English, providing a very solid springboard for later development in other disciplines. We consider the National Curriculum Guidelines when planning programmes of study for individuals, and place our own strong, traditional emphasis on the basic skills of Numeracy and Literacy, supporting or challenging each pupil as appropriate.
Scientific investigation is explored by each group and lessons are based on practical investigations. The subjects of Geography, History, Art, Design Technology and ICT develop and encourage the young child’s enquiring mind.
All children in the Pre-Prep Department enjoy Music, French, PHSE and Sport. These subject are taught by specialist staff. Personal, social and emotional development are given high priority in our curriculum. We aim to foster attitudes that promote respect, care, politeness and helpfulness towards others as well as developing self-esteem.
