Y6 Scholarship Success

Brackenfield School Celebrates Record Scholarship Results.

Brackenfield Year Six pupils have been celebrating this week as they have been awarded a record number of Scholarships and Exhibitions for independent secondary schools. Each year, many of the pupils take on the challenge of entrance examinations for the schools of their choice and then wait eagerly for the post to arrive with the results. This year the children not only all achieved places at their chosen schools but did so in style with the talents of individual children being recognised through a range of scholarship awards.

Mrs Skillington, Headmistress of Brackenfield said; “We are very proud of all of our pupils’ achievements. Whether they are planning to attend State or Independent secondary schools, we aim to develop their talents not only in core subjects but also in music, drama, sport and arts so the fact that so many children have gained scholarships across all of these areas, in addition to academic subjects, is a wonderful reward for their hard work and reflects the high standards that we aim for in the school.”

To celebrate their achievements Year Six had a ‘no-homework week’ and each of the Scholars has chosen a ‘Scholarship Lunch’ which the whole school will enjoy over the coming term. Favourites include ‘Brackenfield Brunch’, treacle tart and trifle!

Anthony Comerford, Principal of Brackenfield, was delighted with the success “Our pupils deserve to be really proud of their results, especially in a year when senior schools have reported a record number of pupils taking entrance exams. On behalf of the pupils and parents I would like to thank all of our excellent staff for their high standards of teaching and support in achieving these results.”
