Last week of Spring Term - 23 Mar

Inter-House Swimming Competition

The yearly Inter House Swimming Gala took place at the Hydro on Monday 19 March. Pupils enjoyed the different events and rallied together for their House. The final result was a tie, with Almscliffe and Richmond taking first place with 196 points.

Y2 Hockey Tournament at Cundall

The Y2 pupils played a hockey tournament at Cundall Manor School. All the children played well and in a good sporting manner and won 7 games, drew 3 and lost 2 and won overall with a score of 12:9. Well done.

Easter Bunny

There was much excitement when the children came out to play and found the Easter Bunny sitting in the sunshine under the trees. Easter eggs were hidden all over the playground and children had fun searching for them.

Mr Folkard’s Retirement

On the last day of term the school said ‘good-bye’ to Mr Folkard, who was retiring from teaching. Mr Folkard has been at Brackenfield for six years and will be missed by staff, pupils and parents alike. Parents, Mrs Folkard and pupils, including some past pupils attended his leaving assembly. He was presented with a book in which pupils and staff had designed clothing they thought he would wear in his retirement.

Other leaving presents included a 5 year membership to the Butterfly Conservation; a new saddle bag for his bike and money, which we would like to donate to his chosen charity.

We all wish Mr Folkard a happy and long retirement.
