Year 2 Visit to Drax - Oct 13

On Wednesday the pupils from Year 2 visited Drax Power Station, which is a large coal-fired power station near Selby.

The trip was organised as part of their project on electricity. The power station's generating capacity of 3,960 megawatts is the highest of any power station in the United Kingdom and Western Europe and provides about 7% of the UK's electricity supply.

With their hard hats and safety goggles on they were taken on a tour of the generators and turbines and saw them in action.
