Diamond Jubilee Tree Planting at Horticap

Pupils from Year 5 planted saplings this week at Horticap, Harrogate’s horticultural charity which supports adults with learning difficulties. The saplings were donated by The Woodland Trust as part of their tree planting scheme to plant 6 million trees in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The children thoroughly enjoyed an educational afternoon, learning about tree care and each planting a different type of tree. Carpet mats were used at the base of each sapling to provide protection for the young stems. All the children promised to return during the coming years to check on their tree’s growth. Thank you to Horticap for such an interesting afternoon.
