A message from our Nursery Manager
I am delighted you are considering Brackenfield Nursery. My name is Miss Kerr, and I serve as the nursery manager and teacher for the Robins room. I have had the privilege of being part of the Brackenfield family for the past four years. As nursery manager, I am responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the nursery, and I will be your primary point of contact for any queries or concerns. Assisting me is Miss Pearson, my deputy, who has dedicated 34 years to Brackenfield and currently leads our Wrens Room.
Our nursery is supported by a team of four additional staff members, each of whom is highly qualified and experienced. Together, we bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our individual roles, ensuring that your child receives the highest standard of care and education. At Brackenfield Nursery, we believe that every child is unique, and we tailor our learning approach to meet the individual needs of each child. We adhere to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework while also fostering the children's interests to keep them fully engaged in their learning journey.
Beyond the diverse learning experiences within the nursery, the children benefit from being integrated into the wider school community. They are exposed to an enriched curriculum, including specialist teaching in music, French, and Forest School. Additionally, children have the opportunity to take part in various school activities, such as 'Think Big Days', religious celebrations, school performances and other enriching events. From the very beginning of their time in the nursery, we focus on preparing the children not only for school life but for their future beyond. Our aim is to nurture resilient, capable, and enthusiastic learners. By fostering positive relationships with both children and adults, we help children develop confidence and independence, equipping them for the next stage of their learning journey.
As part of their preparation for Reception, we gradually integrate the nursery children with the Reception class and the broader school environment. They join the infants for lunch in the hall every day, and later in the year, they will begin joining the Reception class during playtimes. Our Reception teacher, Mrs. Ingle-Illes is a familiar and welcoming presence in the nursery. She often visits for informal chats and, towards the end of the year, leads story times and activities to help the children feel comfortable and prepared for their transition to Reception.
